If not installed correctly this metal plate can cause the timer to sit too far back preventing the knob from being able to engage.SolutionWhen installing ensure that the bottom metal tab sits inside the lip. Properly seating the metal tab in the lip will provide a much stronger connection protecting against breakage and will reduce the gap between the timer and the washer allowing the knob to engage properly. (See Diagram 1)
